Lions Peak Vineyard: Crafting Excellence, Three Decades in the Making
In the heart of the Central Coast, Lions Peak Vineyard stands tall as a family-owned and operated winery, rooted in a legacy that began with the purchase of a Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in the Estrella AVA outside of Paso Robles. A story intertwined with a country Victorian home, a barn, two black Labradors, two cats, and the charm of an oak tree with a swing. Lions Peak was not just a vineyard; it was a picturesque haven that captured hearts.
The Beginning of Lions Peak: A Vineyard with a Story
Our history unravels with the acquisition of a 128-acre wine farm, where 40 acres bore a Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard. The decision to embark on this winemaking adventure was not solely for the love of the two dogs and two cats but also for the idyllic scenery—a large oak tree with a swing and a wraparound porch offering panoramic hillside views.
Living on the Wine Farm required adjustment. For Jennifer Soni, whose family had a rich history of farming, adapting to rural life with a young daughter was a new chapter after Long Beach. Yet, it set the stage for what would become a three-decade-long journey of producing small-batch, full-bodied wines that epitomize Lions Peak's commitment to excellence.
The Essence of Lions Peak: Quality Rooted in the Vineyard
Jennifer Soni, a driving force behind Lions Peak, emphasizes that the essence of fine wines lies in the vineyard. For 30 years, Lions Peak has been producing ultra-premium handcrafted red wines, a testament to Jennifer's dedication to the art of winemaking. From carefully tended vineyards on the estate and sourced fruits from Paso Robles, Edna Valley, Monterey, St. Rita Hills, and Santa Barbara AVA, Lions Peak focuses on crafting small quantities of exquisite, Old-World-style wines.
Not confined to reds, Lions Peak has ventured into producing delicate, well-balanced white wines, including traditional Chardonnays, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, and white blends. Each bottle reflects the meticulous attention to detail and passion for creating a diverse portfolio that captivates the palate.
A Legacy of Firsts: Lions Peak's Pioneering Spirit
Lions Peak is synonymous with pioneering endeavors. In the late 1990s, Jennifer Soni defied skeptics who claimed downtown tasting rooms would not succeed. Lions Peak initiated the Paso Robles historical downtown tasting room venue, setting a trend that continued with a second tasting room for two decades in Solvang.
Continuing the legacy, Lions Peak has opened another eclectic design Tasting Room and Salon in Thousand Oaks. Jennifer Soni's visionary journey in the world of wine has led to a paradigm shift, with tasting rooms now favoring an urban environment, offering a delightful experience for those exploring multiple attractions.
Crafting Excellence for Tomorrow: Lions Peak's Continued Legacy
As Lions Peak celebrates three decades of winemaking, the commitment to crafting ultra-premium wines and pioneering new horizons remains unwavering. Jennifer Soni's vision, dedication to quality, and trailblazing spirit continue to shape Lions Peak Vineyard, inviting enthusiasts to savor the legacy and embrace the promise of even more extraordinary vintages in the years to come.
